Parents and Patients

Welcome to the Kartini Clinic for Disordered Eating, the only medically-based eating disorder clinic in the Pacific Northwest specializing exclusively in the treatment of children and young adults, ages 6 to 21.

Kartini Clinic was established in 1998 to serve children and young adults who suffer from eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorders, food phobia and selective eating, as well as those whose disordered eating contributes to obesity or wasting conditions (cancer).

This web site is designed to help concerned parents, primary care physicians, teachers, coaches and counselors understand the facts behind these serious illnesses, how to recognize them and what can be done for those who suffer from them.

If you suspect you have an eating disorder, please contact us directly at 503 249 8851 and ask for the new patient coordinator. All calls are confidential and entirely free. You may ask questions about treatment, about your child’s illness, or about your insurance situation and know you are speaking directly to a Kartini Clinic professional.

If you are a parent concerned about your child please read the following sections and call or email us if you have further questions. If you feel you are ready to schedule a medical evaluation of your child please call 503 249 8851 and ask for the new patient intake coordinator.

But first, as a parent you will likely want to know one thing: should I be worried?

If you are a physician or mental health provider looking to refer a patient, or have questions about our treatment philosophy, please see our Medical Providers page or call us and ask to speak to the medical director. Alternatively you can send us an email .
